中国机械工程学会工业设计分会简介
中国机械工程学会工业设计分会,成立于1986年，是中国最早成立的全国性工业设计学术组织，并于2003年加入国际工业设计联合会（ICSID）。学会委员会成员主要由国内的著名专家、学者及企业界人士组成，第五届委员会共有96名委员，学会每年在各地召开中国国际工业设计研讨会、全国工业设计学术年会、产品创新－中国工业设计论坛、中国企业－产品创新设计奖（CIDF）评选、中国工业设计精英赛、国际计算机辅助工业设计与概念设计学术会议（CAID&CD）等多种学术及非学术性品牌活动。对国内外的工业设计发展产生着重要影响。现学会秘书处设在浙江大学。

高举邓小平理论伟大旗帜，坚持党在社会主义初级阶段的基本路线，团结和组织广大工业设计工作者认真贯彻科学技术是第一生产力的思想，实施科教兴国和可持续发展战略，促进工业设计与科技创新人才的成长和发展 , 为社会主义物质文明和精神文明建设服务，为加速实现我国社会主义现代化作出贡献。

开展国际、国内学术交流；
编辑出版、发行工业设计期刊、书籍、学术论文集；
发展同世界各国及地区工业设计团体、个人的友好交往与合作；
举荐设计人才，表彰、奖励在工业设计领域中取得优异成绩的设计工作者；
开展对会员和设计人员的继续教育培训；
反映工业设计界设计工作者的意见和要求，维护设计者的合法权益；
为国内外企业提供工业设计的咨询服务。

About us
The Industrial Design Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, which was founded in 1986, is the earliest national industrial design academic organization in China and joined the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) in 2003. The academic committee of the institution, which consists of domestic famous experts, scholars and business elites, established its fifth committee in 2006. The chairman of this committee is Prof. Pan Yunhe, academician of the ChineseAcademy of Engineering and there are 99 committee members as well as about 100 corporate members of the Institution in total. The secretariat of the Institution is located in ZhejiangUniversity, Hangzhou, China. Since the foundation of the Institution, the majority of industrial design practitioners are united and organized to conscientiously implement the thinking of “technology is the first productivity”, to implement the strategies of “national rejuvenation through science and education” and “sustainable development”, to promote the development of industrial design and the growth of technological innovation talents and to make positive contributions to the development of China’s industrial design and manufacturing industry.
With the leadership and great support of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), as well as with the care and assistance of the affiliating unit, the Industrial Design Institution insists on the principals of democracy and common participations during the institution activities. After 20 years of endeavors, series of activities have been held and remarkable progresses have been made.
- International Industrial Design Seminar and National Industrial Design Academic Annual Conference
It is a brand academic activity of China’s industrial design academia. Since 1986, when the first National Industrial Design Academic Annual Conference was held, 10 continuous annual conferences are held successfully. In 1995, the first International Industrial Design Seminar was held in Kunming and then 2001 in Hangzhou, 2002 in Shenyang, 2004 in Ningbo, 2005 in Wuhan, 2006 in Hangzhou, this seminar is held consecutively, which becomes a regular forum for China’s industrial design academia. In each conference, there were about 150 registered formal representatives. During the past conferences, 6 conference papers were published, which includes more than 700 excellent papers both from home and abroad and dozens of international experts were invited to make presentations. These activities enhanced the communication and cooperation in industrial design between china and the world, promoted the learning of advanced design ideas and made positive contributions to the education and industrial application of China’s industrial design. The 2007 International Industrial Design Seminar and the 12th National Industrial Design Academic Annual Conference is going to be held in this December, in Shenzhen, China. - International Computer Aided Industrial Design and Conceptual Design Academic Conference
This conference is hosted by the Industrial Design Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the CAD&CG Special Committee of China Computer Federation as a long-term international conference. This conference has been held for 7 times, respectively in 1998 in Guilin, China, 1999 in Bangkok, Thailand, 2000 in Hong Kong, China, 2001 in Jinan, China, 2003 in Hangzhou, China, 2005 in Delft, Netherlands, and 2006 in Hangzhou, China. This conference has become a regular forum for the CAD academia both from home and abroad. In each conference, there were about 150 registered formal representatives. During the past conferences, 5 conference papers were published, which included more than 1000 excellent design papers both from home and abroad and more than 100 international design experts were invited to make presentations. In 2007, the 8th International Computer Aided Industrial Design and Conceptual Design Academic Conference are going to be held in Korea.
- Chinese Enterprises – Product Innovation Design Awards
These awards are called “the Oscars” in the industrial design area of China. The first selection for these awards was held in Sep. 2001, in Wuzhou Hotel, Shenzhen, China. In the same time, Product Innovation – The 1st China Industrial Design Forum is also held there, which attracted many political leaders and famous enterprises both from home and abroad, such MOTOROLA, NOKIA, SAMSUNG, LENOVO, TCL and SKYWORTH. This activity was also well reported by about 30 mainstream media, including CCTV and thus got a great impact on the industrial design area of China. The success of this activity let more manufacturing enterprises be aware of the importance of industrial design, enhanced the awareness of independent innovative design for the domestic enterprises, promoted the communication among industrial design education, the enterprises and the government to some extent, and made positive contributions to the development of industrial design of China. In order to continue this valuable and meaningful activity, the Industrial Design Institution collaborated with other related units and held another 3 times of Product Innovation – China Industrial Design Forum, respectively in 2002, 2003 and 2005. The consecutive and successful conductions of this activity have enlarged the scope of its influence and participation, and make it a landmark activity in China’s industrial design area.
- China Industrial Design Elites Competition
This competition is initialized and hosted by the Industrial Design Institution, titled by Shenzhen 3NOD Electronics Co., Ltd. Since the first competition in 2002, this competition has aroused great repercussions across the country and there are more than 1000 competitors, who are design students from 158 universities and colleges and professionals from 87 design agencies. This competition is also well reported by the mass media, as well as about 100 websites, such as Design Online and Sina and makes positive contributions to the academic exchanges of China’s industrial design area. After the successful competition in 2002, the Institution held another 3 competitions continuously in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The number of competitors, the scope of participation and the design level of each competition are increasing year by year. This competition not only promotes the development of industrial design but also advertises the Industrial Design Institution and the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society. - Industry Design Competitions
These series of competitions were initialized and hosted by the Industrial Design Institution, titled by Geely Auto Group and B&C Optical Industrial Co. respectively, which included Geely Auto Cup – National Auto Design Competition and B&C Cup – National Glasses Design Competition and were both held in 2004, in Ningbo, China. These two competitions, which are typical industry competitions, held by the Institution, attracted more than 2000 design fans and professionals to participate, including many participators from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Among the more than 2000 competitors, there were design students from more than 200 universities and colleges and professionals from more than 100 design agencies. These competitions called for more attentions to the specified industry, provided the enterprises with more creative inspirations through the focused product designs, advertised the corporate brand image and also gave the enterprises opportunities to explore more talented designers. These competitions were also widely reported by all kinds of mass media as well as about 100 websites, including Design Online and Sina and made positive contributions to the exchanges of China’s industrial design area. In 2006, the Institution also held Zhenhai Cup – International Industrial Design Competition, the 1st China Metal Product Industrial Design Competition, B&C Cup – the 2nd National Glasses Design Competition and etc. - Series of Activities of World Industrial Design Fair, Ningbo, China
In Sep. 2006, series of activities of 2006 World Industrial Design Fair (2006 WIDF) were held in Ningbo, China, which are hosted by ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design), the Ningbo Municipal People’s Government, CIDA (China Industrial Design Association) and Industrial Design Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society in together. The 2006 WIDF, which included an International Industrial Design Exhibition, an International Design Summit Forum and an International Industrial Design Competition, was aimed to promote the development of industrial design in China, elevate the sense of independent innovation design in manufacturing industry, improve China design industry's overall strength and make a positive effort in China's shift from a large manufacturing country to a manufacturing power country as well as a large design country. During the 2006 WIDF, Zhenhai Cup – International Industrial Design Competition was held in the same time, which had a theme of "Safe; Healthy; Environmental Friendly" and invited friends all over the world to join this competition as to utilize the collective wisdom and inspiration, to create future products of more beautiful, more comfortable and healthier to improve modern people's living standard. Series of activities of 2007 World Industrial Design Fair (2007 WIDF) are still going to be held in Sep. 2007, in Ningbo, China.
The conductions of all these conferences and other activities provided the industrial design practitioners with a good communication platform for domestic and international exchanges and collaborations, made a great effort in improving the overall strength of China’s design industry and strengthened the cohesion of the domestic industrial design groups. The various industry design competitions gave opportunities to the students and profession designers to show their talents and learn from each other and also created a good atmosphere for industrial design. In the aspect of international communication and collaboration, the Institution made several contacts to international organizations and became a corporate member of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) in 2003. The institution has published 10 collections of papers, which employed about 2000 papers and gained the recognitions from the enterprises and education areas of industrial design. With the leadership of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the endeavors of all committees and members of the Institution, we shall joint the brother and provincial branches, unite any possible force and work hard on every item with a realistic and innovative scientific attitude in order to make a contribution for China’s shift to a large design country and a world class design power.
